When did you first come across yoga?
I was about 9 years old I think and I remember my mum getting me and my brother to sleep with tense and release relaxation. I always slept so well after it. And when my mum practiced at home, I always tried to copy her.
I’ve only rediscovered it in 2012 though after long battle with depression. I’ve joined Iyengar yoga class, which transformed my life. Since then I’ve tried Hatha, Vinyasa, Hot yoga, before discovering DRU in 2014… it was love at first sight! ☺
What made you decide to become teacher?
I always loved helping people and Yoga had such a massive impact on my life that I wanted to share the love. Although I have realized, that I’m teaching yoga from totally selfish reasons… there is nothing better, than seeing all the blissed out faces of my students at the end of a class!
Although I think all of the different types of Yoga are fab, but my heart belongs to DRU. It is so gentle, yet so powerful and pretty much anyone can do it. If you think you can’t do some pose because of a health condition you have, DRU offers you an adjustment so you can join in or an alternative pose. No one is left out.
What can we expect in your class?
A bit of laughter, I think people take Yoga too seriously nowadays! You’ll be forced to listen to some dashing 80’s tunes during the activations, but most importantly you can expect some beautiful flowing sequences, visualizations, affirmations, meditation, pranayama (breath work) and deep relaxation, which brings a profound sense of peace to your whole being.
